house gutting deadline
Looks like the New Orleans city council unanimously approved an Aug 29th deadline for all residents to gut, remediate and secure their home. Any home that does not meet this deadline will be declared "a public nuisance" and the city will either bulldoze or repair the home...and send a bill to the homeowner. I have been assured by several sources, both at the state and local government, that this will not be a hard deadline and all indications show that it will be modified. For additional media coverage on the issue confirming the indications please look at the TP editorial Saturday the 29th and also at an article in their Sunday metro section.
