Post your damage reports here
This post is for us to share information on how bad the damage is. I talked with Lawrence today and he actually was able to get onto the Westbank for a bit yesterday. He took 90 into the city, got on the Westbank Expressway, took the Stumph exit and checked out his house. He said that he did not see any standing water on the Westbank (He drove through parts of Marrero, Westwego, Harvey, Gretna. He did not see Algiers). He said that there were huge trees down everywhere. His house was okay. He told me he took some pictures. I will try to get them and post them on the blog.
All of the reports that I have gotten seem to indicate that the Westbank is in good shape, especially Algiers. The Eastbank, on the other hand, is devastated. Any parts that did not take in water initially are filling with water due to the levee break. All areas of the Eastbank (St. Bernard, New Orleans East, Lakeview, West End, Metairie, Kenner) have serious flooding.

Catherine Hooper here again. Just wanted to share a blog set up by Tulane students that is posting pictures of Uptown:

Many of these are in the area right across from our building on S. Claiborne, but no pictures of our building - I guess that's a good sign, since someone would probably want to take a picture of a building with windows blown out or the like, right?

I just got word that Pat Davie was able to get into the city under the guise of Davie's Shoring. All I know is that he checked out Brock and Heather's house in Kenner (on Minden, right off of Airline Hwy, past the airport). They did not have any water in their house. They also were able to check out Pat & Ann Carolyn's house (on Kewanee, between Transcontinental and Power blvd) and they didn't have any water either.
That is very good news. Apparently Kenner and Metairie might be in a little bit better shape than originally anticipated.
Also, word from Glen Wofford indicates that Berean's facilities faired well. The two big trees in the front yard did not come down!

Chris Burton,
Did you try using whitepages.com to look up home phones for people in New Orleans? We have had luck getting through to landlines in N.O. especially early AM and late PM.

Chris Burton:
Hi Chris:
Thank you for your message regarding Marguerite McLaughlin! I am part of her former church family in Vallejo, California. We have been very concerned because no one has heard from her since Saturday. Her close friend Barbara Tarjan posted her phone numbers on another thread. I am quoting the message here:
From Barbara:
Does anyone have the Avry's cell phone number? We know Marguerite McLaughlin evacuated w/ them last Saturday but we have been unable to get hold of her and are very concerned. We're in contact w/ her family who also have been unable to reach her.
Please let us know. You can reach us at (985) 774-9334 or if that number doesn't work (254) 498-7936. Also, does anyone know if the homes along General DeGaulle flooded? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
-Barbara Tarjan
Please let Mrs. Marguerite know we are praying for her, love her, and are ready to help with anything she needs. Thank you. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of you.

Barb - There was no flooding in our area - just lots of wind and trees
down. Glad to hear from. I had a friend who was able to drive down Ge. DeGaulle
and check on a house on Eton without any problems. This was on Wednesday. He
was also able to get to houses on the other side of Woodland - Oxford/
Brighton area and no flooding there either. Hopes this helps - Toni Guthrie
