Berean family,

Vince & CJ Willis here, some of you may remember us as members from '99 to '02. We've moved on with the Navy, and are now in Memphis, so if we can offer any support (shelter, etc.), let us know--(901)413-7307, or prayerworks@faithmail.com. We are praying for all of the folks affected by Katrina, but our hearts are especially breaking for our friends & neighbors in NOLA.

May God bless you,
Vince & CJ

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I have been an occasional visitor to Berean in recent years whenever my travels have brought me to NO. I have always loved the warmth of your fellowship and your commitment to Bible based teaching and witness to your great city.
I don't know everyone's names but remember the faces. Names I remember are Glen, Stan, & Don.
And I keep in touch with Dr. Miller.
Please be assured of the prayers and love of your brothers and sisters here in the UK. I cannot believe what I am seeing on the news and wish I could be closer to help. I pray that the Lord will keep you all, and your loved ones safe. And that he will use you in the many places to which you seem to be scattered at present. I pray that He will help you as you rebuild homes, families and communities. And that He will build up, encourage and bless the fellowship that is Berean Bible Church.
I don't know what damage has been done to the church buildings but pray that those of you still in the area will be able to meet up again before long.
The Lord bless you.

Dear Berean Brother and Sisters,

As I said, the saints at Derwood are praying for you. Our pastor (Steve) has worked disaster recovery before and truly understands the magnatude of what you're suffering.

In addition to praying, Derwood is planning to help in more concrete ways. This Sunday, and next, the congregation will be taking up a collection for disaster relief. The details are not set in stone at this point, but Derwood is planning to send at least some of this collection directly to you. Pastor Brad or Doug, contact me off-line at 301-340-9323 or matthew.vile@goodwill.org so we can put you in contact with Pastor Steve.

Today my church, Immanuel Bible in Springfield, VA, prayed for the believers in NOLA who face such huge challenges in the days ahead. As He has sustained in the past, He promises to continue (Phil. 1:6). My late husband & I attended BBC in the late 1980's and I feel so connected to you.. How can I help? You have my prayers for the church and each family. If any need housing & can reach the the northern VA area I will be glad to help arrange whatever I can; perhaps coordinating with Pete & Cathy Hill who attend another local church. Just know you are in my heart & heavily in my prayers.

Jordanian, Palestinian, Iraqi and Egyptian believers in Jordan are praying for you!

We've been following the news with broken hearts, especially Dennis, as Berean was his first church in the 80s and your first sent missionary.

Dear Berean Family,

We are soooo thankful for this blog site which has answered many of our concerns & prayers for you over the past week. Jane & I (John) are in Ventura, CA and would be happy to open our home (2 bedrooms available) to any of you in need of a place to stay.

Although we do not know your new pastor (having left in September 2003 when we retired from the Navy), he is spot on that this is a God-moment and opportunity for us to serve/reach those in NOLA who did not fare as well. I was so blessed to read the note from Diane & Frank Wilson who are over in Texas sharing about the "numerous chances to talk about spiritual things". Go Diane!

The fields are ripe for harvest and we will be praying that your ministry to the area (supported by the prayers and funds from those of us around the country who have been touched by Berean over the years) will be bountiful.

John & Jane Exell

PS. I know Johnnie & Sylvia Ervin moved back to Mississippi previously, but has anyone heard from them?
